Saint-Raphaël Valescure, the golf-course neighbourhood

A very select residential area offering peaceful, green living conditions of appreciable quality, Valescure is known for its two 18-hole golf-courses and its 9-hole academy.

45 minutes from Nice, between Cannes and Saint-Tropez, Saint-Raphaël stretches out along 36 kilometres of the coast between the Estérel hills and a Mediterranean shoreline characterized by coves and creeks. Home to 36,000 residents, the town is split into several neighbourhoods : the centre on the seafront, the Old Town, the harbours, Boulouris, Le Dramont, Agay, Anthéor-le-Trayas, and finally Valescure, giving Saint-Raphaël its status as a fine destination for golf enthusiasts. Airy, very green, and near amenities, this residential area draws many French and foreign buyers, whether golfers or not.

In the late 19th century, this part of Saint-Raphaël drew the attention of Lord Aschcombe who fell for the charm of its lovely climate and beautiful landscapes. This English nobleman had the first of the two golf-courses built in this area called Valescure, a contraction of the Latin “Vallis Curans” or “the valley which heals”. From the 1960’s to 1990’s, the neighbourhood took off and many villas, a few luxury residences and private gated estates were built. Here, the property scene is mostly comprised of villas, some fetching record prices.

“The start of 2023 has been very lively,”

says Vincent Durand, negotiator with Canat & Warton, which has three agencies in Saint-Raphaël : on the shore, in the centre and on the golf-courses. Mostly retirees and pre-retirees, and French in the majority, clients are looking for a pleasant holiday home in Valescure with potential to become a year-round residence.

“Some of our clients are golfers, others appreciate above all the quality lifestyle that reigns here. Valescure is a quiet, residential address with lots of natural greenery. Luxuriant and safe, with no pollution or traffic-jams, it offers an exceptional setting along with many amenities. Depending on the surface area, location, the style of construction and appointments, prices, now stable, range from 950,000 to over 3 million euros for a villa.”

In particular, clients appreciate recent villas offering Californian-style architecture and modern comfort, like this house built in 2022 in grounds of 3,600 m² with a pool area, at the heart of the Valescure golf-courses. Presented fully fitted and furnished at 3.5 million euros, this luxury property of 410 m² is comprised of a living-room of 107 m² and four en-suite bedrooms, including a master bedroom of 54 m².
