In the département of Le Var in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, the lovely commune of Grimaud, home to 4,000 residents, stretches from the Mediterranean up into the hills. Set back from the bustle of Saint-Tropez, it is a quiet, authentic and natural site. It is thus seen as one of the most peaceful enclaves around the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. In the 19th century, thanks to its generous forest of cork oaks, its economy was mainly based on corks for wine bottling. Grimaud can thus be split into two distinct areas : the medieval village and the "lagoon city" inaugurated in 1966.
