In the département of Le Var in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, the lovely commune of Grimaud, home to 4,000 residents, stretches from the Mediterranean up into the hills. Set back from the bustle of Saint-Tropez, it is a quiet, authentic and natural site. It is thus seen as one of the most peaceful enclaves around the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. In the 19th century, thanks to its generous forest of cork oaks, its economy was mainly based on corks for wine bottling. Later on, the architect François Spoerry designed and built Port-Grimaud : an outstanding marina laid out around quaysides, gardens and shops. Grimaud can thus be split into two distinct areas : the medieval village and the "lagoon city" inaugurated in 1966.
Grimaud's property market mainly addresses buyers of holiday homes. Houses are, however, no longer solely occupied in summer. In fact, at a time when teleworking is making real headway, occupancy periods for second residences are on the rise and even extend to other seasons of the year. Grimaud offers three different sectors : the village with its charming old houses, the plain with its lovely villas, and the shoreline area with its large estates.
