Lapped to the south by the Mediterranean, this département in the Provence-Alpes Côte d’Azur region is also one of the most densely wooded in France (almost 60% of its surface area). Its climate and natural environment make it a very popular tourist destination. The Massif de l’Estérel and that of Les Maures, the Giens peninsula and that of Saint-Tropez, the Gorges du Verdon, the beach of Cavalaire-sur-Mer, and hill-top villages in the Pays de Fayence are all, in fact, truly sumptuous sites well worth the detour. As for Toulon, the main town in Le Var, it ranks first in the listings of towns in France enjoying the most sunshine.
Le Var is first and foremost a unique setting : a seafront comprised of beaches and creeks, each one lovelier than the last, and a luxuriant hinterland with small picturesque villages. Buying a house here is the wish of many year-round and numerous holiday residents (accounting for over 26 % of properties). Charming or luxury villas, the choice is vast, the range of prices too. Whether they opt for a modest house in Néoules, a large residence in Draguignan or a sublime property at the water's edge in Les Issambres, buyers treat themselves to sunshine and quality living conditions.
An area undergoing constant growth both economic and in terms of its population, Le Var offers a very pleasant life-style, with its vocation as a tourist destination continuing to bear fruit. Even so, it is largely well-preserved and can pride itself on a very high percentage of wooded land as compared to the national average (almost 60% versus 25%). It is the only French département to bear the name of a river which does not flow through its territory (the River Var is in the Alpes-Maritimes). Residents of Le Var benefit from uncommonly varied scenery (coastline, peninsulas, islands, mountain ranges, gorges, lakes..).
Le Var plays host to as many different properties as its geographical layout permits. Small apartments in villages, larger ones in town centres, those on the seafront, others in gated residences, in need of renovation or impeccable and ultra-contemporary, each corresponding to a particular buyer's profile and budget.
