Once a fishing village facing the Atlantic Ocean, and now seen as one of the world's most famous surfing spots, Biarritz is a first-rate seaside resort. In the 19th century, the European aristocracy, drawn by its bountiful nature and unique scenery, made it one of their favourite destinations. While for many years the acquisition of a home in Biarritz was the prerogative of those able to afford a second residence, the trend now seems to be reversing, thus creating a more evenly-balanced property market in the town.

From the centre of Biarritz to its surrounding communes

The most sought-after properties in Biarritz are town houses close to the beaches and shops, ideally benefiting from swimming pools. Sublime villas in the Parc d'Hiver, for example, are highly sought-after by French buyers wanting to settle in the resort. Further back from the coast, Labourdine houses still draw future owners in search of authenticity. A victim of its own success, Biarritz is however a micro-market in which demand for houses, especially in the neighbourhoods of Saint-Charles and Les Halles, greatly outstrips supply. Clients then agree to visit the neighbouring communes of Bidart, Anglet or Arcangues.
