In the Aquitaine region in the département of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Bidart lies on the Atlantic coast, offering superb panoramic views of the cliffs and beaches. A neighbour of Biarritz, Guéthary and Saint-Jean-de-Luz, it is only 5 km north of the border with Spain. In the 19th century, the fashion for seaside resorts encouraged the town to turn its attention to tourism-related activities. Which also led to a process of urban development, though always with care to preserve the natural environment. Since 2011, Bidart has formed part of the "Communauté d'Agglomération Côte Basque-Adour", together with Anglet, Bayonne and Biarritz. It has in fact become an essential technological hub within the region, as illustrated by the presence of the ESTIA engineering college. As well as many sports activites, Bidart offers must-see addresses such as the Moulin de Bassilour, Henriet chocolate factory, and the Château of Ilbarritz.
The housing sector in Bidart is particularly appealing, as it proposes prices 15 to 20 % lower than those in Biarrritz for houses offering the same appointments. The town centre has some pretty homes near the beaches. Rue Maurice Pierre and the Chemin Dorrea benefit in particular from unique views of the mountains or the Parlementia beach. Another weighty argument : several building plots are up for sale.
