Lying south-west of Fréjus, Saint-Aygulf is a village on the shores of the Mediterranean. Guy de Maupassant was fond of describing its beautiful scenery. Nowadays, fans of kite-surfing take advantage of the beach of Les Esclamandes, while nature-lovers head for the lakes of Villepey, a large, wild, protected area. Saint-Aygulf has a warm family atmosphere. Playing host to outdoor markets on Thursdays and Fridays, its historic centre is well worth a visit.
After the World War II, the village's authenticity was somewhat spoilt by massive urbanization. Unlike Sainte-Maxime and Les Issambres, Saint-Aygulf is more popular among members of the local working population looking for their main homes. Provençal houses to restore are in demand, but still affordable. Many buyers aged between 45 and 65 find what they are looking for in bungalows with open views, near the centre and amenities.
