The 4th largest town in the Alpes-Maritimes, Grasse lies between the area north of Cannes and the hill-country beyond Nice. Far from the bustle down on the coast, the town enjoys a quiet, natural backcloth. With the three "flowers" won in France's "Villes et Villages Fleuris" competition, and its title as a "Town of Art and History", Grasse has nothing to envy of other communes on the Côte d'Azur. Acclaimed as the French centre of perfume-making, it draws the interest of many local buyers and others from further afield.
The market for houses in Grasse offers some appealing opportunities. Properties of equal quality are 30 % cheaper here than in Mougins. Impeccable homes requiring no renovation work sell very quickly. Substantial villas, "bergeries" and "bastides" enjoying views of the Mediterranean or the lake of Saint-Cassien are increasingly popular. Building land is, however, rather rare in Grasse. The neighbouring communes of Spéracèdes, Le Tignet, Cabris and Peymeinade then provide attractive and affordable alternatives.
