There are four main areas : the hill-top village, at an altitude of 225 metres, Cap Martin, comprising in particular the Parc des Oliviers and soundly-built residences, Carnolès, home to a large part of the population, and Saint-Roman, the closest to the mini-state of Monaco, and playing host to the Monte-Carlo Country Club. The choice of properties is thus very wide. People working in Monaco tend to opt for the centre or the valleys, more affordable than the seafront. First-time buyers are especially drawn to Carnolès or the Chemin du Vallonet. There is, in fact, a substantial difference in prices between middle-of-the-range residences in the valleys and luxury residences on the plateau or in the Hameau.
