The history of Beausoleil, a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes lying between the "Tête de Chien" and "Mont Agel", is closely linked to that of the Principality of Monaco. During the 19th century, Monaco underwent an economic boom. To meet the population's needs and detachment from La Turbie, Beausoleil came into being on April 10th 1904, under the aegis of Camille Blanc. Listed as a climatic resort, this little town soon became a prized address among the European aristocracy, who stayed at the famous Riviera Palace. Meanwhile, Piedmontese labourers moved into the neighbourhoods of Tonkin and La Gaîté. Today, Beausoleil has 13,273 residents, 22 % of whom are foreigners.
