La Croix-Valmer, an idyllic environment

Boasting seven natural sandy beaches as renowned for their beauty as for the quality of their sea water, La Croix-Valmer stretches out along a 6-km coastline, at the southern entrance to the Saint-Tropez peninsula. This discreet holiday resort benefits from an exceptional location…

Backing on to the Corniche des Maures, in the midst of a luxuriant site, La Croix-Valmer has succeeded in preserving its peacefulness while offering immediate proximity to the bustling town of Saint-Tropez. Encompassing a protected nature park of 545 acres, La Croix-Valmer invites visitors to enjoy long walks in the woods along the shoreline on its Chemin des Douaniers. Overlooked by the 14th-C. clock tower, the old village has retained all the charm of an authentic Provençal town. Gigaro is considered as one of the loveliest beaches in the département.

”Gigaro is, in fact, still the area’s leading attraction,” says Filippo Speranza Patrignani, manager of Heraclee-Darnis Immobilier, well-established in La Croix-Valmer and all over the peninsula, especially with a new agency opening in June ideally located on the legendary Place des Lices in Saint-Tropez. “Villas here are mostly presented at prices ranging from 1 to 2 million euros, with the most exceptional offering locations at the water’s edge fetching up to 5 million euros. The market in La Croix-Valmer is very active. Our family clients, comprised 50% of French, 50% of foreigners - mostly Germans, Belgians and Dutch -, are looking for pleasant holiday homes, ideally with a view of the sea, a pretty garden and immediate proximity to amenities.” Due to the rising popularity of La Croix-Valmer, the stock of available properties is somewhat limited, yet prices remain stable. “Other areas such as Barbigoua, between Gigaro and the village, post lower prices than those seen in Gigaro.” By way of example, our specialist mentions a house of 140 m2 enjoying a sea view. Also benefiting from a pretty garden with a pool, it is on offer at 675,000 €.

Inaugurated in 2015 by a team backed by 20 years f experience and of more than 350 transactions in the area around the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, the Immosûr agency specializing in sales and seasonal rentals covers especially La Croix-Valmer - through a branch at the entrance to the village - and a wider radius including Gassin, Grimaud, Cavalaire, Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer, Sainte-Maxime, which offers excellent visibility. “The market has really gotten its breath back, resulting in higher demand for holiday homes,” says Guillaume Videcoq, manager of this multilingual agency (French, English, German, Dutch) focusing on an international clientele : Dutch, German, Swiss, Belgians, English and north European. “La Croix-Valmer is clearly a market chosen for the quality of its environment, now seen much less frequently as a fall-back market for Saint-Tropez or Ramatuelle. In addition to Gigaro, which is definitely the commune’s most sought-after address, we are seeing more interest in areas such as Le Paillon, Le Domaine de la Pinède, and the western part : Les Rochers Blancs, Barbigoua, Les Hauts de Peynie… The finest properties here are presented at prices from 800,000 to 1.6 million euros. One example is a charming 4-bedroomed villa on the Domaine du Paillon. Set in grounds with a pool and summer kitchen offering a view of the sea and the Iles d’Or, it is up for sale at 1,595,000 €. In Gigaro, prices tend to range more from 1.5 to

4 million euros.”
