Villa Mies Van Der Rohe with views of the ramparts
CONTACT: Jonathan 07.63.79.67.23. A masterpiece of modern architecture, the Barcelona Pavilion by Mies Van der Rohe in 1929 directly inspired this 263 m² villa with swimming pool and outbuilding facing the panoramic view of nature and the ramparts of Saint Paul. de-Vence. Its linear architecture, aesthetic and functional, frees the spaces by removing the partitions by a set of windows and a skilful distribution of stilts, which creates a constant back and forth between the indoor and outdoor universes. Nothing is left to chance, from the provisions of the lights on Zimbabwe's granite worktop to the cornices that replace the traditional ground complaints. The slender structure, flying slightly over the lawn, projects a first reception module converted into an independent guest room. In the extension, the swimming pool creates continuity accompanied by a carved white wall that contrasts with the blue of the sky. The beach exotic wood extends along the living space, open from all sides with its central fireplace, overlooking the view above a valley on one side and overlooking the garden of the other. A minimalist staircase distributes the sleeping areas as well as a game room and a soundproof room. This level has two bedrooms each with their own bathroom, plus a master bedroom. Like the housing units of Le Corbusier, each room is thought of as a living room whose storage has been carefully moved in the corridors of circulation. This villa, whose design is inherited from the international style and the Bauhaus embodies the timelessness of a universal vision of the habitat. Near the historic center of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, a few minutes from the Maeght Foundation.
