Fréjus and its surrounding region

Between the Massif des Maures and the Estérel hills, Fréjus occupies an area which is not overly built-up. A town of art and history, founded by the Romans in 49 B.C, it offers lots of assets. Charm, well-being and security top the list.

With a seafront lined with pleasant blocks of apartments built from the 1960’s to the years 2000, residential neighbourhoods with light and airy villas, and attractive neighbouring communes blending quietness and charm, Fréjus enjoys a good reputation, especially among a good many French buyers who move here when they retire.

“The market is lively, and 2016 has been favourable for buyers who, with budgets of around 350,000 €, can set their sights on a charming 2- or 3-bedroomed house with a small garden, near the village. Their bargaining power is stronger than before,” comment the sales team at the Agence Angeli. Clients with budgets under 400,000 € are, however, faced with scarce offerings. “In order to acquire a home near the town centre, you need to spend between 400,000 and 550,000 €. Bungalows are highly sought-after.”

Next to Fréjus, Saint-Aygulf, a small seaside resort offering both tourist and sports facilities, is a micro-market for the area’s most desirable properties. Known in particular for its beach of Les Esclamandes over 8 km long, this charming address offers some beautiful villas enjoying stunning sea views. The starting price here is about 700,000 €.

A few minutes away, Roquebrune-sur-Argens, a commune with 12,500 residents, offers all the amenities necessary for pleasant everyday living. Its property market can be split into three distinct areas : the old village, the residential neighbourhood of La Bouverie, and Les Issambres – the coastal part of the commune -, where villas offering views of the sea post the same prices as those in Saint-Aygulf. “The number of sales we have handled is definitely on the rise,” says Nathalie Jahier, manageress of the Agence Ottonello, the specialist for this sector. “The market is really buoyant. The old village appeals to first-time buyers who can acquire a small house to renovate for about 100,000 €, a 1-bedroomed apartment from 95,000 €, or a 2 bedroomed apartment in a good location for about 180,000 €. Town houses with small gardens start from 260,000-280,000 €, while villas in La Bouverie range from 300,000 € if they need renovating, to 600,000 € or more for large homes in perfect condition.” By way of example, she mentions a charming property set in grounds of 2,800 m2. Offering four en-suite bedrooms, a swimming pool and garage, it sold for 685,000 € within six weeks.
