A growing desire to become a home-owner

According to a survey commissioned by broker CAFPI from the Ifop, the number of Frenchmen wanting to become home-owners is constantly rising. In March, 40 % of them were able, and wanted, to acquire homes within the next five years, versus 35 % in June 2016. The four most important motives inciting them to take the plunge included the prospect of no longer paying rent (48 %), the feeling of being free to do what they wanted with their own home (46 %), the idea of having an asset to pass on to their children (34 %), and the desire to prepare for retirement (34 %).
